Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic artist, performer and composer. The singer combines soul gospel jazz with R&B for a distinctive blend. Avery Sunshine has appeared on Broadway as well as at various festivals across Europe. She has also performed at her appearance at the Democratic National Convention. Her real name is Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta however, she comes from Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing and playing the piano in church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training in the Atlanta's R&B scene. In 2005, she was commissioned as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her voice, asked Sunshine to join the Dreamgirls production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was noticed by all of the country during four performances per day at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine then went on to be invited to sing for the President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
